June 2010: "putting A Call Out For Carlton Breezy!" Straight 8 Competition 2010 Takes Us To The Cannes Lions Festival For Another...film Premiere'
Wednesday, 15th December, 2010
Not satisfied with simply creating a straight forward music video we took on the challenge of joining forces with The Helmholtz Resonators to produce a Straight 8 film in order to enter their 2010 competition.
Straight 8 invites anyone anywhere to make a short film on one cartridge of Super 8 - without editing, all the shots are edited in camera at the click of the shutter. The first time filmmakers see their film is at its premiere...a nerve wracking proposition.
Super 8 is not digital. Super 8 is real film stock; 50ft of 8mm film shot using vintage cine cameras, and once processed in the lab it is played back on a projector at a speed of 18fps. Super8 contains a certain magic that is impossible to reproduce using today's digital equipment -we love it!
As part of the advertising festival our film was chosen to be premiered over in France. So we had to go and see it with our own eyes!
Take a look at how Straight 8 film turned out...the film also enjoyed a further two screening in London
As well as producing a Straight 8 for the band we also did a Lomo photoshoot which resulted in some cool images they used for their album cover and on their website.
